FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How does Botox work?
Botox blocks the muscle’s ability to contract during facial expressions. When the underlying muscle tissue moves, it leaves an imprint known as dynamic wrinkles. When the muscles stop moving, these imprints or wrinkles diminish.
  • How long Botox result last?
The results from Botox will last between three and four months. However, with repeated treatments, the underlying muscles may be trained not to move during expression, allowing for longer-lasting results.
  • How safe is Botox?
Extremely safe. Botox is the most popular cosmetic procedure globally with millions of injections done annually. It is the most tested, and studied procedure in esthetic medicine and has few risks and consequences when done correctly by a skilled injector.
  • How soon should you repeat a Botox treatment after your first injection?
The simple answer is when you start to experience movement in the treatment area. This movement is a good tell-tale sign the effects of Botox are subsiding. This sign happens about the three-month mark after your previous injection.
  • What is the limit to the bumber of Botox treatment sessions I can have?
There is no limit. You can have as many repeat treatments as necessary. However, it is important to remember that after multiple treatments, your body may develop an immunity to the drug rendering it ineffective.
  • Does Botox hurt?
With a skilled and experienced injector, Botox is extremely tolerable and sometimes painless. We do offer anesthetic creams to make the procedure more comfortable, but many of our patients don’t need it.
  • When will I notice the result?
When done correctly by a skilled injector, you will notice results within two to four days. You may also notice continuous improvement for a few weeks following as well.
  • Does Botox reduce forehead wrinkles?
Yes, when injected into the forehead muscles just above the brow, you should experience a reduction of horizontal lines on the forehead.
  • Can Botox improve my heavy-set brows like an eyelift?
When an expert injector places Botox in the correct areas just under the eyebrows, a lifting effect will raise your brow to a certain degree. There is some risk as the same injection might cause the brow to fall.
  • Can Botox stop excessive sweating in the hands and feet?
Yes, when delivered to the palms and feet, Botox has been successful in reducing excessive sweating and perspiration in these areas. However, gripping may be affected in the hands because the muscle will be weakened. Walking may also feel funny when delivered to the feet.
  • Can I get Botox on my lips?
Yes, the ability to hold a straw or sip may be affected. You should use an injector who specializes in this type of treatment.
  • Can you use Botox to increase facial volume?
No, Botox is a neuromodulator, not a dermal filler
  • Can I get Botox treatments for my crow’s feet and my forehead wrinkles at the same time?
Yes, Botox is frequently administered in multiple areas at the same time.
  • What areas of the face can I get Botox?
The areas of the face commonly treated with Botox are the frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet beside the eyes, and horizontal lines on the forehead. The most common areas of the face injected with Botox are the frown lines between the eyebrows, the forehead wrinkles, and the crow’s feet.
  • After Botox, will I have a frozen look?"
The results depend on the injection administered. Some patients like the frozen look while others do not. The amount of Botox and injections area will determine the results in this matter. Make sure you discuss this with nurse before injections.
  • What are the risks of Botox?
The major risk of Botox is associated with the weakening of muscle tissue that was not intended to be treated. This can include a variety of issues which depend on which muscle was incorrectly weakened.
  • Can I suffer from headaches after Botox?
Headaches are common after Botox injections, but are usually temporary and should diminish after a few hours.
  • Can Botox cause double vision?
Double vision is a temporary side effect of Botox injections and like headaches should subside in a few hours.
  • Can Botox cause itching at the injection site?
Itching is a temporary consequence possible with an injection and should abate quickly.
  • What kind of improvements can be made with Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are used in the following ways to treat a variety of issues: To Reverse the Effects of Aging Loss Of Facial Volume: As we age, the fullness of youth is lost, which is most evident in areas such as the lips, cheeks, and eyelids. By restoring volume, fillers are able to directly improve appearance by filling in hollowed or sunken areas. Tissue Sagging: As skin ages, it atrophies, which affects the appearance of skin under the eyes, around the lips, the chin, jowls, and the area between the nose and the mouth. Deepening Of Facial Folds And Wrinkles: With age, wrinkles and facial folds become more pronounced. Fillers are able to erase moderate to severe wrinkles, and folds such as: Fine Lines: Fine facial lines become more problematic with the passage of time – in particular, tiny lines below the eyes, and around the lips. Hand Rejuvenation: Even if you are able to maintain a youthful look, withered hands are often a telltale sign of age. Dermal fillers are not just for the face, and are very effective at rejuvenating the appearance of hands, by making them appear smoother and suppler, while minimizing wrinkles and hiding prominent bones and veins.
  • What are the benefits of Dermal Fillers?
Immediate and long-lasting results Non-surgical No downtime for recovery Highly Effective at improving appearance Performed during one visit (20 minutes in and out) No anesthesia is required Natural-looking results that don’t affect the ability to make facial expressions Results can be reversed or corrected Soft compound which can be moulded to suit your unique facial features Proven safety track record, approved by Health Canada and the FDA Corrects the signs of aging by lifting and filling the skin, and smoothing out wrinkles Contours the jaw line by correcting jowls and sagging features
  • What to expect at your dermal filler procedure?
The dermal filler that is selected as being the most appropriate for you is eased into your skin using a very fine needle. Depending on the improvement you are trying to achieve, the filler will be injected along wrinkles and deep facial folds, or into hollowed out areas of the face that have lost volume due to age. The procedure itself should take approximately 15 minutes.
  • How long will it take me to see results after dermal filler injections?
After getting dermal filler injections, you will be able to immediately see some results, however, it will take about 48 hours to see the full effect. The results will typically last up to six months. After this period of time, you will need to receive fillers again to maintain your rejuvenated appearance. If you opt to stop getting injections at any time, your appearance will just revert to its original state.
  • How long will the results from dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers fade very slowly and gradually, so for the vast majority of patients, results should last between 6 and 9 months. After approximately 6 to 12 months, the effects of the dermal filler gradually weaken, until your skin returns to its natural state. The specific amount of time dermal fillers last varies depending on the patient’s skin, the treatment area, and the type of product used. As treatment with dermal fillers is temporary, they require touch-up injections for maintenance, and eventually repeat injections. Our experienced health care practitioners will determine the ideal time interval for your follow-up treatments, and develop the optimal injectable regimen to suit your needs. Alternatively, if you decide not to maintain your new appearance, the results will gradually disappear over time.
  • How long is the recovery from dermal filler injections?
After receiving your dermal injections, you might experience some mild redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or itching. These effects should clear up in less than 7 days (or 14 days for lips). Redness can be concealed using foundation or concealer. In general, most patients experience little or no downtime – which means you can return to work and continue with your usual daily activities.
  • How much do dermal filler injections cost?
The cost of dermal filler injections depends primarily on the amount of dermal filler injected, which in turn depends on the amount of product you require to achieve a significant result. At your consultation, your unique facial features will be assessed, your concerns will be taken into account, and a treatment plan will be developed. At this point, you will be told the exact amount of filler you will require.
  • Are dermal filler injections painful?
Most patients only experience mild discomfort. As the needles used for dermal fillers are very fine, the amount of pain experienced by patients is minimal and the procedure does not require anesthesia. It should also be noted that many of the dermal filler products available today contain Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to minimize your discomfort. Topical numbing creams can be used to further minimize discomfort when injecting sensitive areas.
  • Are dermal fillers reversible?
Fortunately, there is the option of completely reversing the results you obtain from Hyaluronic-Acid based fillers if you are not happy with the results. A solution called Hyaluronidase is simply injected into the treatment site which effectively dissolves the filler within approximately 24 hours.
  • At what age should I start getting dermal filler injections?
The age at which you start using dermal fillers depends entirely on the type of issue you’d like to address. While severe wrinkles and folds typically become evident well into middle age, fine lines appear much earlier. Moreover, there are a number of issues which dermal fillers are very effective at addressing, that are not always related to aging, such as a sunken appearance, thin lips, a wide jawbone, or a crooked nose. In general, however, dermal filler products should not be used in individuals under 18 years of age.
  • Will I look natural after getting dermal filler injections?
Dermal injections are designed to smooth out lines, wrinkles, and folds, or create more youthful and attractive facial contours by adding volume in strategic areas. When injected by an experienced health care professional these products will look and feel natural.
  • Are dermal filler injections safe?
Dermal fillers are approved by the FDA, and have an excellent safety track record. Additionally, the dermal fillers used are all Hyaluronic Acid-based, which is a substance that naturally occurs in our bodies, and has been used for over 20 years for arthritis treatment, wound repair, and eye surgery.
  • What is an IV drip treatment?
IV stands for intravenous, which means a solution is injected directly into the bloodstream.
  • What makes IV drip treatment better than taking a supplement?
Usually, vitamin supplements are taken orally and go through the digestive system, which may cause gastrointestinal intolerance and often are poorly absorbed. With IV drips, the body receives the vitamins and minerals by injecting the solution directly into the bloodstream; a process that bypasses the digestive system and allows clients to feel the positive effects instantly.
  • What can IV drip treatments do for me?
The most common benefits are: improve hydration, nourish the body through vitamins, minerals and electrolytes, strengthen the immune system, enhance energy, boost the metabolism, protect against free radicals, regenerate cells, and improve skin conditions.
  • Do IV treatments hurt?
A needle will be inserted in order to set up the IV, so the level of discomfort is comparable to getting a flu shot.
  • Can anyone do IV drip treatments?
Yes, any healthy adults 18 years and older. If you take any medications or have any allergies, make sure to inform your medical provider before starting your treatment.
  • What can I expect on my first visit to get an IV drip treatment?
There will be a consultation with a medical practitioner who will advise you on which treatment is the most suitable for you. Once the treatment is selected, there are some documents to sign, as you would with any other procedure. After this, you are taken to the treatment site where you can rest in a relaxed position until the IV is ready for you. The puncture site will be sanitized, usually the cubital area, and the needle will be inserted to administer the IV solution.
  • Are there any side effects to IV drip treatments?
Even though our IV drip treatments are clinically tested, stability tested and its ingredients are premium and safe, everyone is unique and patients could experience the effects of the treatment differently. Unfortunately, we are not able to foresee if someone’s body particularly will have an adverse reaction, but we have made sure that all which is within our control followed the strictest regulations.
  • Are there any possible complications to IV drip treatments?
As we mentioned above, even the safest, most studied and tested, of medical procedures can lead to complications. The following are general IV treatment complications that can occur: • Pain or discomfort when puncturing the skin to administer the IV. • Failure to successfully place the IV catheter in the vein. • Need to switch to a different entrance site if the original attempt punctures the wall of the vein. • Bruising of the puncture area, which should dissipate on its own. • Blood clots in the superficial vein, which should dissolve on its own. • Infiltration of fluids from the IV solution through the wall of the vein into the surrounding area, which should be reabsorbed on its own. • Infection of the puncture area. • Inflammation of the vein used for injection, phlebitis, metabolic disturbances, and injury. • Allergic reactions to any of the ingredients in the IV solution, including anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, and death.
  • What does the aftercare for IV drip treatments look like?
We advise the following: 1. Leave the bandage on for at least 15 minutes. After this time, most people will have stopped the small bleeding that happens after removing the needle; however, if you are still experiencing some light bleeding, replace the cotton pad with a new one and hold in place by applying gentle pressure. 2. Keep the area clean and dry for at least one (1) hour post treatment. 3. Avoid intense activity or any stress to the puncture site for 24 hours after the treatment.

  • What makes Farsk Health’s IV drip treatment unique?
There IV drip treatments are pre-compounded and ready-to-use. The novelty of being pre-mixed makes them safer than other IVs on the market, for both the administering practitioners and the patients.
  • How is Farsk Health’s IV drip treatment safer than other IVs on the market?
The bags are pre-mixed in a sterile compounding facility in Laminar Air Flow Hoods, within a sterile buffer room, compounded by trained and qualified pharmaceutical professionals. This ensures the IV bag remains sterile and virtually eliminates the risk of contamination that could occur when mixing on site. They are prepared using only commercially sterile, Health Canada approved, GMP ingredients with DIN from leading pharmaceutical companies, all with indication for intravenous use and never from powders. Because we pre-load the precise amount of each component in each IV bag, we have optimized the health benefits but also minimize the risk for inadvertent errors, such as mixing wrong ingredients or the wrong dosage, which can be harmful and even lethal. The formulation has been assessed for stability to ensure the solution contains at least 90% (the scientific threshold) of the amount of the ingredients on the label. Stability testing also ensures a long-shelf life and guarantees these items remain intact at the time of the treatment. Each IV bag is packaged in an extremely high-quality, medical-grade plastic that does not contain PVC/DEHP, a known cause of health concerns identified as plasticizer. Our IV solutions are pH balanced and isotonic: the same concentration of solutes (substances) as blood in order to minimize vein and red blood cell damage. Electrolyte concentrations and bag volumes are carefully chosen in order to reduce adverse effects such as fluid retention or increased urination. Specifically, sodium and chloride are minimized where possible to help reduce fluid retention post-treatment. Formulations are designed to provide the critical elements such as electrolytes, vitamins and amino acids which are key building blocks to good health in the various treatment areas. We utilize the scientific literature using primary references from high-quality, peer reviewed journals as the basis for choosing the items in our formulations. Nursing time is spent on taking care of the patient as opposed to compounding the solution, which allows for better monitoring and patient assessment.
  • How do fat dissolving injections work?
Fat Dissolving injections, also known as fat destroying injections, destroy fat cells by damaging the fat cell membrane and liquefying the fat in the treatment area. The destroyed fat cells are then broken down and removed naturally by the body’s lymphatic system. The substance that is injected is called deoxycholic acid, which is like bile acid naturally made in your body to destroy fat cells.
  • Are fat dissolving injections safe?
Yes, they are perfectly safe when administered by a qualified practitioner using products with a good safety record.
  • Is the treatment painful?
There may be some level of mild to moderate discomfort, but it should not be painful and is easily tolerated. As with all treatments that involve needles, the injections may sting for a few seconds, but generally, pain is minimal. To minimize discomfort, a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and lidocaine which is also a numbing agent is mixed into the product
  • What does the treatment involve?
On the day of your first treatment, you have a consultation to assess your suitability for treatment, recommended session as well as discuss any questions or concerns you may have. The treatment involves a series of small injections of the fat dissolving products directly into the pockets of unwanted fat
  • What areas can be treated with the fat dissolving injections?
Target areas that can be treated with fat dissolving injections on the body include the abdomen, love handles, muffin top, saddlebags, inner thighs, knees, upper arms, back rolls, buttocks, underarm bra fat. Target areas on the face include double chins and the jawline.
  • Who is a suitable candidate for fat dissolving injections?
This treatment is ideal for clients who have stubborn, localized fatty deposits which appear to be resistant to diet and physical activity. Candidates need to have between 1.5cm and 10cm pinchable fat on the body. For treatment to the face, the treatment area would need pinchable fat which is assessed by the practitioner.
  • When are fat dissolving injections not recommended?
Typically, the treatment is not recommended of individuals with a history of anaphylaxis to the product, suffering from severe medical illnesses or autoimmune disease, pregnant or breastfeeding or anyone under the age of 18.
  • How long does the treatment take?
Depending on how many areas or how big the the treatment area is, a treatment session takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Are there any side effects?
Common thing to except are swelling and redness, bruising at the injection sites and tenderness around the treated area. This will generally resolve in up to 10 to 14 days.
  • What is the ‘downtime’?
There is no down time as such; clients can go back to their normal routine straight after treatment. However, it is recommended that an elastic compression garment is worn post treatment for several days to get the best results and reduce swelling. Is it also recommended to follow any post treatment instructions provided by the practitioner.
  • How soon will I see results?
Fat loss results take approximately 3 to 6 weeks to show, however, the treatment area will continue to improve over the coming weeks and months. It is recommended to complete 3-6 sessions for best results.
  • How many treatments will I need?
Treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit and from client to client. Most clients will need at least three treatments to see the results they are after. It is recommended to do each treatment 4-6 weeks apart. A course of 3 to 6 treatments is needed for the body and 1 to 3 on the face is recommended for the best results.
  • Is there anything I need to know to prepare myself for fat dissolving injections?
We advise you not drink alcohol or take ibuprofen 24 hours before of your appointment to minimize risk of bruising.
  • Are the results permanent?
Once fat cells are removed from a localized area, your results are as good as permanent. However, if you do not continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle then your body will put on weight and fat in treated areas can return. Destroying fats cells is a long lasting solution provided the client maintains a stable weight and physical activity.
  • What is a Non-Surgical Butt Lift?
It is a cosmetic procedure where we inject the buttocks with dermal filler to add volume, curve, and shape to your buttocks.
  • What are dermal fillers?
The most common fillers are made of a soft gel consisting of non-animal hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the human body, and it is found in our skin. It helps hydrate and adds volume to the skin. It is naturally broken down by our own bodies.
  • Is hyaluronic acid safe?
Hyaluronic acid ‘HA’ is a substance which is produced naturally in the body (however the hyaluronic acid used for buttock injections is manufactured). Extensive trials since 2002 have shown no long-term serious side effects and have been clinically proven to be safe and effective. HA-based fillers have been used as cosmetic injectables for over 20 years. The HA used in cosmetic dermal fillers undergoes a process to form links between the molecules, making the HA more durable. As the body recognises HA, there is minimal risk of allergic reaction or infection. HA is a natural component of skin and plays an important part in skin health.
  • How long do the results last?
The effects are long lasting but not permanent. They last anywhere from up to 2 years, depending on a number of factors including the patient’s age, area treated, type of filler used, quantity of filler used, and lifestyle. After treatment, maintenance and touch ups are minimal.
  • What is involved in the treatment?
The area to be treated will be completely numbed using a local anaesthetic, and the entire procedure takes around 1.5 hours to complete. Injections are made through tiny incision points that are usually invisible once healed. The filler is injected using a thin cannula above the muscle. The amount of filler injected depends on the degree of augmentation desired.
  • Is there any downtime?
Mild discomfort including swelling and bruising can occur for up to 2 weeks. Some activities are restricted for 2-3 weeks following buttock filler injections. A support garment (lycra cycle shorts or similar) is optional for the first week, day and night, and can be purchased by the patient in advance of the procedure.
  • How much bigger can I make my bum with Hyaluronic bum injections?
The maximum increase is around 600 ml in each buttock. This will likely require multiples visits to the clinic spaced over a 4 week period. This will depend upon your physical capacity to carry additional volume, tissue elasticity and the degree of augmentation desired.
  • Can I drive home after the procedure?
Yes, the procedure is under local anaesthetic (in other words you were awake during the procedure), then you can usually drive home afterwards.
  • Does it hurt?
Most patients experience only mild to no discomfort. Numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to the treatment as well as local lidocaine is injected into the area. Many of our fillers used have a numbing agent in them to also minimize any discomfort. But pain will vary from person to person.
  • Can I sit on my buttocks after the procedure?
The filler is still malleable (able to be moved under significant pressure) for the first few days after the procedure. It would be better to sit on a soft chair or couch, or if possible lay on your front (also known as laying on your belly) for at least the first few days. After 5-7 days the filler is almost fully integrated and can’t be moved anymore.
  • Are there any side-effects that I should be aware of?
The use of hyaluronic acid in buttock reshaping has been driven by the desire to find a less risky, non-invasive method of buttock reshaping that does not need to be performed under general anaesthetic. By performing the procedure using a local anaesthetic, there are considerably fewer risks compared to buttock implant surgery. There are also no incisions made, so there is little risk of scarring, and the downtime is usually minimal. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be dissolved away using Hyaluronidase enzyme injections; instantly reversing the procedure if necessary. This provides an additional safety net.
